Abbotsford business wins provincial farmers’ market award

Friesen Farm named Vendor of the Year during event in Victoria

Friesen Farm in Abbotsford has been named Farmers’ Market Vendor of the Year (farmer category) in the fifth annual BC Farmers’ Market Awards.

The awards were held over the weekend in Victoria by the BC Association of Farmers’ Markets (BCAFM). They celebrate individuals and organizations that have made outstanding contributions to the sector.

Awards were presented in eight categories and were selected by a panel of leading professionals.

Friesen Farm has been selling at the Abbotsford Farm and Country Market since 2004.

Ann and Albert Friesen were noted for their community contributions and dedication to supporting the development of the local farmers’ market by serving on the board of directors and mentoring new vendors, as well as for their generous donation of marigold plants to moms on Mother’s Day.

The Farmers’ Market Awards were part of the BCAFM’s annual conference, Growing Together, organized by the BCAFM in partnership with three local Victoria area farmers’ markets.

The BCAFM is a registered society that represents over 145 farmers’ markets across B.C.

Its mission is to develop, promote and strengthen the capacity of farmers’ markets in all regions of the province.
