Jennerich rows to World cup bronze

Lindsay Jennerich of Victoria and teammate Sheryl Preston of North Delta won bronze in the lightweight women’s double at the 2009 Rowing World Cup in Lucerne, Switzerland, July 10-12.

Jennerich and Preston rowed the 2000-metre distance in seven minutes and 10 seconds, just a fraction back of silver-medal winning Belgium (7:09.92).

The new-look men’s eight won silver in the 2,000m with a time of 5:36.09, finishing behind Germany (5:33.56). The men’s eight for the regatta included Victoria’s Malcolm Howard, Duncan’s James Dunaway and Gabe Bergen from 100 Mile House. Coxswain Mark Laidlaw, along with rowers Derek O’Farrell, Steve VanKnotsenburg, Andrew Byrnes, Doug Csima and Rob Gibson are from Ontario.
