Success was achieved at a key time for the Victoria Grizzlies. After dropping their last road trip the Grizz felt a lot of pressure to redeem themselves as contenders for the B.C. Hockey League title this season.
On Sunday the Grizz capped a three-in-three weekend, edging the Langley Chiefs 2-1. Saturday night Derek Lee was the hero when he scored the overtime winner for a 4-3 win over the Burnaby Express and on Friday, possibly the biggest test of the year-to-date, the Grizzlies dropped the Powell River Kings 4-2.
Victoria is now 18-7-2, five points ahead of the Nanaimo Clippers for the lead in the Coastal Conference’s Island division.
