Not long after trading Yannick Tifu the Victoria Salmon Kings announced the signing of Jay Henderson for the 2009-10 season.
Henderson fills the Salmon Kings’ recently vacated fourth veteran spot, and joins the team after spending the 2008-09 season with Innsbruck EV in Austria where he scored 18 goals and added 14 assists in 50 games played with 104 minutes in penalties.
“He is a proven winner with three Calder cups in his pocket and NHL experience," said general manager and coach Mark Morrison.
"He should have an immediate impact on our team with his leadership qualities."
The Edmonton, Alberta native spent parts of three seasons (1998-99 through 2000-01) in the National Hockey League with the Boston Bruins where he played in 33 games scoring four points (1g-3a) while accumulating 37 penalty minutes. Henderson joined the Bruins’ organization after being selected by Boston with the last pick (#246 overall) in the 1997 NHL Entry Draft.
