Two series into the season, the Victoria Salmon Kings are facing an uphill battle.

The Kings dropped their final game of a three-game home stand against the Bakersfield Condors on Saturday, 4-3. Victoria is now 1-5 on the season, last in the ECHL's National Conference.

Saturday's game had its own bright light however, as Victoria native Taylor Ellington scored his first ECHL goal. On a feed from Olivier Latendresse, Ellington buried a one-timer past former NHL goaltender Justin Pogge.

Victoria hosts the Stockton Thunder for a two-game set next weekend, 7:05 p.m. Friday, Oct. 20 and 1:05 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 1.

The Thunder share the bottom spot in conference, also with a 1-4 record.
