Arson burns building, destroys parked car
A 24-year-old man was arrested Monday after witnesses say they watched him break the window of a parked van in the 800 block of Fisgard Street, light a piece of paper and throw it inside.
This caused the vehicle to ignite in flames, and burn the side of the building where it was parked. The vehicle, worth approximately $10,000, was destroyed.
Officers used the witness' description of the suspect and arrested a 24-year-old man nearby, who they say was drunk and had no connection to the owner of the van.
Police hunting for bank robbery suspect
Victoria police are seeking help to find a man suspected of robbing a bank Monday.
At 3:30 p.m. a man entered the Scotiabank at 702 Yates St. and demanded money. He received an undisclosed amount and ran away.
He is described as 35 to 45 years old, 5'1", 200 lbs, stocky build, with dark hair, brown eyes. He was clean-shaven with a dark multi-coloured paid jacket and blue jeans.

Man with gun robs McDonald's
A man entered the McDonald's restaurant at 980 Pandora Ave. at 5:30 a.m. on Tuesday, claiming he had a gun, and demanded cash. When he didn't receive any, he ran off.
His description was given to Victoria police officers, who found a man of a similar description near Quadra and North Park streets.
The 41-year-old man, well-known to police, was arrested for robbery.
