Two men who severely beat another man on Christmas Day have each been sentenced to 4 1/2 years in prison.

Steven Lee Maxwell and Christopher McGibbon were sentenced on Oct. 30.

The incident happened in the 700 block of Princess Avenue. The victim was beaten with a baseball bat, resulting in a broken leg, nose, arm and head injuries.

Victoria police say the beating came from the man’s inability to repay a drug debt.
