MPs pass on easy Olympics tickets
While it would be easy to score tickets to the 2010 Olympics in Vancouver for two of Greater Victoria's MPs, neither is in line to get their hands on them.
The federal government bought 2,000 Olympics tickets for government workers, including members of Parliament.
If they want the tickets, MPs, senators and other federal staff have to pay for them personally.
Keith Martin, Liberal MP for Esquimalt-Juan de Fuca, said he didn't know the tickets were available, but said he likely wouldn't take advantage of the easy grab.
"It will be very difficult to get around ... and accommodation is expensive," Martin said.
Denise Savoie, NDP MP for Victoria, had different reasons for not entering the Olympic ticket lottery.
"All the (funding) cuts I've been seeing in past couple (weeks) have really cast a shadow on the Olympics," she said . "That's the reason why, at this time, I can't consider buying tickets for the Olympics."
