Harris Nawaz Qureshi has been sentenced to four years in prison after pleading guilty to sexually assaulting a women in early June.

At 1 a.m. on June 7, Victoria police responded to a robbery of a sex trade worker in a vehicle near Douglas Street and Princess Avenue. The woman escaped but left her belongings behind after a struggle.

At 2:30 a.m, a woman reported being threatened and sexually assaulted after she got into a vehicle she believed was a taxi at the intersection of Blanshard and Broughton streets.

One hour later, Victoria police identified the vehicle described in both attacks and arrested the suspect at Pembroke and Douglas streets.

Police later associated a third attack on a sex trade worker from June 6 to the same suspect.

Qureshi, a 27-year-old man from the Lower Mainland, was sentence on Sept. 29.

He was convicted of one count of sexual assault with the threat of a weapon and one count of robbery.

“VicPD are very pleased the man pled guilty which alleviated the need for the women to testify,” said Sgt. Grant Hamilton.
