Body found in water below Dallas Road

A body that washed ashore near Dallas Road earlier today (Thursday, Oct. 1) has been tentatively identified by Victoria police.

Spokesperson Sgt. Grant Hamilton said in a press release the body is believed to be that of a 30-year-old Victoria woman. It was found by a couple walking on the beach earlier today. Officers are locating the dead woman's next of kin and are not releasing her name.

The body was discovered at 11:30 a.m. Oct. 1. Not long after, three members of the Greater Victoria Integrated Dive Team examined the water near the rocky shore and surrounding area. Major Crime Detectives, Forensic Identification members and the B.C. Coroners Service were also at the scene for several hours.
