Two new bus routes will service the University of Victoria this school year.

Starting Sept. 8, a route 12 will serve UVic and University Heights, and a route 13 serves UVic and Cadboro Bay area.

Routes 4 (UVic-Downtown), 14 (Vic General Hospital-UVic) and 26 (Dockyard-UVic) will make more trips during he day to address overcrowding.

The 50 route (Langford-Downtown) will travel along Jacklin Road rather than through residential streets. Bus riders can start using Langford’s Station Avenue exchange.

Route 76, which used to run the Saanichton Exchange-Keating Cross Road-Royal Oak Exchange-Downtown route is being shut down.

The bus schedule on many routes has been changed to improve timing and efficiency.

The changes translate to a five per cent overall service increase and 40,200 more service hours for riders.
