Langford transit exchange finds new home

B.C. Transit’s bus exchange in Langford will be moving from the Westshore Town Centre to a new facility on Station Avenue off Jacklin Road,, beginning Sept. 8.
The new exchange, centrally located between downtown Langford and West Shore Town Centre, features nine bays with covered seating areas, a pay phone, pedestrian lighting, an operator facility and an information board.
Eleven routes will be affected by the exchange relocation: No. 50 Langford/Downtown, No. 61 Sooke, No. 51 UVic, No. 52 Wishart, No. 53 Atkins, No. 54 Metchosin, No. 55 Happy Valley, No. 56 Spencer, No. 57 Millstream, No. 58 Langford Meadows and No. 59 Triangle Mountain.
Buses will no longer stop within the mall property, instead along the perimeter of mall, with new stops being added along Jacklin Road and Langford Parkway, all walking distance to stores.
B.C. Transit will hold an information session regarding the exchange and route changes at West Shore Town Centre on Saturday (Aug. 29) from 10 a.m.-3 p.m.
Service changes will also be posted online at www.bctransit.com.
In addition to relocating the Langford exchange, the Victoria transit system will also see service increases this September, including new routes in Gordon Head, No. 12 UVic/University Heights and No. 13 UVic/Cadboro Bay, additional trips to No. 26 Dockyard/UVic, No. 4 UVic/Downtown and No. 14 Vic Gen/UVic, and Saturday service to the William Head Institute and the Pearson College via No. 54 Metchosin.
