With ample video-surveillance footage weighing against him, Joshua Matthew Ritch pled guilty to robbing several Victoria-area banks.
The robberies, from March 13 to May 13, followed the same pattern: a lone male passed a note demanding money from a teller, but produced no weapon.
Ritch, a Victoria resident, was arrested May 20 in Vancouver.
Ritch, 31, pled guilty to robbing TD Canada Trust on Burnside Road, CIBC on Oak Bay Avenue, and the Vancity Savings on Scott Street on two occasions.
He has been sentenced to 40 months in jail.
Other B.C. cities reported bank robberies during the two-month robbery spree. Port Alberni, Parksville, Duncan and Mission were also struck.
The crimes were similar in nature to those in Victoria, but no charges have been laid against Ritch in these cases, said Victoria police Det. Const. Rick Anthony.
