A large patch of grass and a flower bed were destroyed at Beacon Hill park Tuesday night after a truck did donuts.
"Essentially they took out a good-sized garden bed and about 1,100 square feet of turf (100 square metres) ... and (did) quite a bit of damage to the irrigation system," said city spokesperson Katie Josephson.
Parks staff were still assessing the damage Wednesday. Repairs were expected to take several days to complete and cost $10,000 to repair.
Neighbours reported the commotion to police around 12:30 a.m., but they weren't able to respond in time to catch the vandals.
"We went down and checked the area, but the truck was long gone," said Victoria police Sgt. Grant Hamilton.
The truck is described as an older model, either black or grey in colour and "very loud."
Witnesses said there were two people inside. The truck was last seen heading toward Cook Street.
