The work of fine art photographers Dave Aharonian and Susan Huber is featured at Dale’s Gallery in Chinatown this month.
The show, titled, My Home, My Land, features the Saltspring Island subjects of Huber, who lives there, and the Vancouver Island-wide scenes of Aharonian.
The two use distinctly different methods for producing their work. Aharonian has three large (24-inch by 34-inch) modern archival digital inkjet prints on display.
The rest of his prints are called “platinum/palladium” prints, a process that goes back 150 years.
Most of Huber’s prints are made on “printing out paper” which is placed outside to allow the image to develop. Both processes involve hand-coating papers with a light-sensitive emulsion.
The show runs now until Dec. 24 and the gallery, at 537 Fisgard St., is open Mondays to Fridays 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturdays 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
