The Mount St. Mary Foundation raised more than expected from Royal Victoria Marathon funds, and hope to make it a habit.

The foundation had hoped for $30,000 for new beds and mattresses for residents at Mount St. Mary Hospital, but instead came away with $40,000.

The money will go towards specialty pressure-reducing air mattresses for people who spend long hours in bed.

The foundation was one of 11 local charities who participated in the marathon's pledge program.

More than $150,000 was raised between all charities.
