Honorary Navy captain Cedric Steele received the Canadian Forces Decoration award.
Vice-Admiral Dean McFadden and Rear-Admiral Tyrone Pile presented him with the award in recognition of his 12 years as honorary captain.
Steele is also the chairman for the Homecoming, a statue that will be placed in downtown Victoria to mark the centennial of the Canadian Navy next year.
