An enthusiastic crowd watched a great game of football on Friday, Sept. 30 at City Centre Field #1 in Langford. It was played between the Sooke EMCS Senior Varsity Wolverines and Courtenay’s Mark Isfeld Ice. Sooke played a very strong game and even though the score was 34-30, the home boys did not lose the game... rather, the Ice won it.

The offensive line, ably led by centre Travis Carlson gave an impressive performance with Quarterback Skye Robertson throwing a long one to Ethan Wedel who made a long run to the end zone for the first of his two touchdowns. Kyle Buchanan followed with two TDs of his own and Curly Thompson got his first touchdown of the football season. According to Coach James Lemire, “Curly was a monster on the D line as well creating several turnovers.” Lee Kent had two quarterback sacks and James Price also stood out with many great rushes.

This week’s away game will be the last of the regular season and will be played in Ganges vs Gulf Islands on Thursday November 5 at 3 p.m.. -Mike Rowe
