Minor hockey summaries

The HHS Drilling and Blasting Novice C boys played Juan de Fuca and Kerry Park this past weekend. No scores were provided with the summary, although credit was given to players including James Vince, Bailey English, Liam Millward, Kyle Brown, Brady Thompson, Hunter Burket, Scott and Max Strauss, Sean MacDonald and Jackson Smith. Garrett Gilbertson was the Digger of the Week.

The Sooke girls Independent Concrete bantam C team had a great game against Juan de Fuca on Sunday, coming out on top 7-6. Cassidy Smith and Jessica Audette both scored hat tricks with Natalie Wilson rounding out the scoring. Special mention goes to Victoria Ngo for her strong defence that cemented the win.

Sooke Midget A Dumont Tire hosted Powell River on Saturday.  Sooke’s first goal came with just over three minutes left in the first period.  Gavin Kirk whacked the puck off the boards and Lucas Sherman picked it up scoring on his own rebound.  Two minutes later PR answered.  There was one goal scored in the second period by Adam Cartwright from Zach Lafontaine –  a slap shot from the top of the circle.  Powell River wangled four goals in the third period and  a face off in PR end allowed  Sherman to  score.  It was very exciting when Sooke pulled the goalie with over three minutes left to play unfortunately PR capitalized  with a 6-3 victory.

4M Bobcat & Trucking Midget A girls hosted the strong North Island Edge Midget A girls on Saturday. Playing well with Kate McVicar in goal they fell short in a 3-0 game. On Sunday they hosted the Port Alberni Midget A girls.
