Hockey summaries

4M Bobcat & Trucking Midget A Girls played against Kerry Park Sunday. Lianne Brooks scored the first goal of the game in the second period on a pass from Michelle Quigg. Kerry Park won the game 5-1.

In past Atom B news, the boys held their own in the Saanich Remembrance Day Tournament at Pearkes Arena where they won two of their four games.

The Baker’s Mechanical Atom “B” Boys team travelled this past Saturday to Campbell River for a match-up with the Campbell River Tyees. The Thunderbirds played a riveting 2-2 game.

The first goal was scored by the Tyees and then Carter Navarrete (Billy Beecroft) tied it. The second was scoreless, then CR scored again halfway through the third. Carter Navarrete (Grayson Jacobsen) tied the game in the third.

Sooke’s Dale Electric PeeWee C Thunderbirds played two games this last weekend.

On Saturday they played against the PeeWee A girls. Kyle Burden was on fire with a hat trick and an assist. He was followed by Jordan Jackson-Smuntan with a goal of his own. Adam Knight shot another one in trailed by Clayton Miller unassisted. Rounding of the scoring was Glen Davies assisted by Ethan Staszkiel.

 Sunday’s game was a barn burner at JdF vs the Grizzlies who jumped on top with two goals in the second. Sooke came back with one of their own scored by Travis Leahy (Dexter Kennedy). Sooke came on strong in the third with Adam Knight sneaking one in (Charlie Richardson). Juan de Fuca punched another one in to take a 3-2 lead. David Bartelme slipped one in past the Juan de Fuca goalie in the dying seconds, assisted by Travis Leahy. Logan Senft in net had an exceptional game. Final score 3-3.

In mid-month the Sooke Mortgage Center Bantam Rep boys with a road game against the Tier 2 Cowichan Valley team. The game ended in a 4-4 tie, led by two goals and an assist from Jared Pleasants, and single markers from Ryan Elder and Sasha Perron (1G/1A). Assists also went to Trevor Wickheim, Jackson Plonka, and Bradon Senft. The boys played the Victoria Icehawks the next day and struck early to set the tone. With excellent goaltending from Kevyn Jacobsen, Sooke two goals by Michael Turcotte, two by Sasha Perron, and singles by Bradon Senft (1G/3A), Jared Pleasants (1G/1A), Nick Pfeifer (1G/1A) and Trevor Wickheim to send Victoria down to an 8-4 defeat.  

The Wittich Environmental Sooke Bantam C Thunderbird boys took the lead early against the Saanich C3 to win 9-3. Linden White got the ball rolling halfway through the first period with two goals less than two minutes apart. By the end of the first period Sooke led by four, thanks to Kelby Wittich, Justin Litoski and Aaron Coderre. Dyllon Pallot scored two goals. Justin Litoski who also scored 1 in the second recorded his first hat trick of the season.
