OUR VIEW

Each of the candidates in the federal Esquimalt-Juan de Fuca riding were asked:

What do you see as the most pressing issue in the Esquimalt-Juan de Fuca riding?

We have published the comments provided by MP Dr. Keith Martin, Liberal; NDP candidate Jennifer Burgis; Green Party Brian Gordon. This week we include Indpendent candidate Dr. Phillip Ney and Canadian Action Party candidate Brad Rhodes.

Dr. Phillip Ney, Independent

I am Dr. Philip Ney your Independent candidate. I love Canada, and I love Sooke, my home. At the all candidate forums, we are experiencing the loss of democracy in Canada, watching democracy die before our eyes. Only elitists are allowed to speak, myself and others considered second-class citizens. I respect Sooke’s Chamber of Commerce if they hold a forum and all delegates can attend, however, if there is resistance from any delegate, they won’t.

This is democracy. Thank you. One of my passions is to return Canada to a democratic nation with its good old pragmatism, “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.” I believe in home-grown children, as the apathy in us and our children in respect to being fed up with the feds is fearful. Not being a party, but an Independent, my voice can speak for you, your concerns are my concerns, and no one can shut me up. I swear to God to do all I can to bring democracy back to Canada. You will see me in Sooke, soon. Watch for my Burma Shave signs.

Brad Rhodes, Canadian Action Party

Small business co-owner Brad Rhodes, has made the statement that he sees the September 11, 2001 attacks as deceitful and flawed. He feels the Bank of Canada should be used for free government financing and Canada’s involvement with NAFTA, SPPA, and NORTHCOM are issues as is Canada’s presence in Afghanistan. He is married with two daughters.

October 14 is Election Day across the country. If you want some say in who is in or out get out and vote. The polls are open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
