On July 03, 2009, the derelict tug, the Florence Filberg, abandoned in Sooke Harbour, was destroyed by fire.

Charges were sworn against two Sooke residents on October 08, 2009. A 35-year-old Sooke male has been charged with arson and a 37-year-old male has been charged with arson, impaired operation of a vessel and operating a vessel with a blood alcohol content over .08. Both men make their first appearance at the Colwood courthouse on November 12, 2009.

The Florence Filberg, a 240-tonne vintage WWII tug, was originally left in Sooke Harbour by Captain Ron Cooke, who said in November 2007 that it was neither derelict or abandoned. The vessel sat in the harbour until it was torched and now remains a burned-out hulk.
