Active is making movement a part of your daily life

Gail Armitage began participating in SEAPARC’s drop-in fitness classes in 2008, after moving to Sooke from Edmonton.

Armitage has been involved in aerobics for many years; however, her involvement at SEAPARC started when she came with a friend. She enjoys the group atmosphere because it is a great way to socialize and build friendships in the community.

Armitage says the classes not only help with her arthritis, but they also improve her strength, balance, and endurance. Among her many pursuits, including pole-walking and gardening, Armitage chooses to come to aerobics whenever she can make it.

Acknowledging that many adults lead busy lives, Armitage believes that “everyone has to start somewhere” in terms of physical activity.

The motivation and social support she has found within fitness classes at SEAPARC help to keep her committed to healthy living.

SEAPARC has a number of program and classes for adults. Drop-in classes include: Women on Weights, Body Bar and Ball, Jazzercise, Yoga-Pilates Fusion and Kundalini Yoga, and Lunchtime Lift.

There are classes in aquatic fitness as well as early bird swims and public swim times.
