Jim Sinclair photo Members of the Sooke Jr. Youth Empowerment Group (SJYEG) which meets regularly at Journey Middle School, takes a break from rounding up donations for the Sooke Food Bank outside Village Food Market on November 4. Thanks to the generosity of local shoppers the kids came up with a bunch of non-perishable foods plus $255 in a little over an hour. Adults pictured with the kids are Barry Gifford, wearing toque, of the Food Bank, and SJYEG leader Les Haddad, who later said it was a “good eye-opener for the kids.”
