Video contest

Grade 12 students across the province are being encouraged to celebrate B.C.’s 150th anniversary through a video contest launched by Bill Bennett, Minister of Tourism, Culture and the Arts.

“The BC150 Youth Video Contest is an opportunity for all Grade 12 students to tell their stories and share what B.C. means to them,” stated Bennett. “We all have fascinating stories to tell, and we want B.C.’s youth to share their thoughts, insights and stories on how living in this great province has impacted them.”

Until Jan. 9, 2009, Grade 12 students across the province are invited to submit a short video - up to three minutes in length - representing “What B.C. Means to Me,” for a chance to win a prize for themselves and their school. All videos will require parent/guardian and school sign-off before being submitted.

The top five videos will be featured on the BC150 website and winning students will receive $2,500, with an additional $2,000 going to their school. All participating schools will be entered into a random draw for five prizes worth $1,500 each.

Adjudication of all entries will be conducted by an external committee chaired by Bill Thumm, manager of the Capilano University Film Centre.”

BC150 is a celebration of the 150th anniversary of the founding of the Crown Colony of British Columbia in 1858.
