Armchair archaeologists take an expedition to North Africa
North African Sands: “Roman” around Tunisia and Libya Sand dunes! Camels! Acres of ancient ruins! Couscous for every taste!
Join retired GVPL librarian Georgina Henderson at 5 p.m. on Friday, November 13 at the Sooke library on an armchair archaeological expedition exploring ancient North Africa.
In the fall of 2006, she went on a University of Victoria study tour to Tunisia and Libya, exploring Roman and Greek sites such as Carthage, Leptis Magna and Cyrene. The tour also visited the modern cities of Tunis, Tripoli and Benghazi. She had an exciting Sahara desert ride to see prehistoric rock carvings, and spent a night in a desert camp dwarfed by huge sand dunes.
Please call the Sooke library at 250-642-3022 to register for this slide presentation. The Sooke Library is located at 2065 Anna Marie Road.
