Theme for 2010 art and literacy show being planned by participants
Artists and authors are meeting at the Reading Room in Evergreen Mall on Tuesday, Nov. 10 at 7:30 p.m. to decide on the date for the 2010 All Art Literary Show. The group will also be deciding on the theme.
The very successful show held last summer at the Royal Canadian Legion in Sooke was restricted to “Wall & Word” and only included 2D fine art and literature. Next year the show may include functional items such as jewelry, fabric art and pottery.
But this is all up to the artists and authors who will be participating to decide. A show such as this requires many hours of volunteer time, thus the direction the event will be taking is up to those contributing their time and artistry.
The 2009 show was well attended and raised approx. $1,500 for the Legion Elevator Fund. It gave artists, photographers and authors a non-juried venue to showcase their work. For amateurs, this was the first time showing their work to the public, for others, such as professional artist Sue Coleman, it was a time to interact with the customers at a local show.
Everyone is invited to get together at this informal meeting to hash out ideas and pick a date to hold the 2010 show. The public is also invited to come downstairs at the Sooke Community Hall at the All Sooke Craft Fair running from November 20 to 22, to meet some of the members, and find out more info, or check the web at www.AllArtShow.Org
