Cops for Cancer

A smooth topped Cpl. Scott Hilderley auctioning Saturday night at a Cops for Cancer dinner at the Royal Canadian Legion. The effort raised over $3,000. The Tour de Rock cyclists will be in Sooke on Seeptember 30.

Wednesday, September 30, 2009 – arrival time is approximate, likely between 4:30 and 5:00 p.m. at the community hall at the corner of Eustace and Shields.

Come out to cheer the riders as they come into town. Show them how much we appreciate their hard work.

Then enjoy free french fries at the community hall (supplied by the Sooke Lions Club) and hot dogs by donation (supplied by Sooke Lioness Lions).

All proceeds to Cops for Cancer.

• When the riders arrive they are piped into the community hall (this year the riders are expected to show up between 4:30 and 4:45. Doors at the community hall will open at 4.

• Once piped into the community hall Oh Canada will be sung –then the pipers leave.

• Mayor Janet Evans or the acting mayor is usually invited to come up and say a few words

• Then the team lead from TDR usually introduces the team

• Then various people come up with money raised.

• Meanwhile head shaves (Balding of Sooke) will be going on to raise funds in front of the stage.

• People from the audience are invited to come up if they have something to say.

• After all speakers are done and money given, the TDR committee is asked to come up for a round of applause

• Everyone from Sooke is thanked for their support and the riders have supper on stage.
