Letter - Walking for Africa
Last year I went to South Africa with Meron Moroz of Salt Spring. Everywhere we went we met children who walked two to three hours to school and then home again.
We also met teachers who walked the same distance, committed to the education of their pupils. Some of these teachers gave up a percentage of their salary to help cover school fees for children whose families didn’t have the money, so when I saw the forms for the Great Lake Walk I decided to walk to raise money for SOLID and Partners for Others. I knew both of these organizations would put the money to good use.
Of course, I made Meron walk all 56 km with me on Saturday, Sept. 19. Despite the blisters and sore leg muscles it was worth every step.
Meron and I would like to thank our Salt Spring community for their encouragement and generosity. Your donations will help SOLID and Partners for Others continue their work in Africa.
With gratitude . . . .

MERON MOROZ,
