Letter - Ongoing disc threat

In May 2009 an article appeared in the Driftwood in which Kees Ruurs of Parks and Recreation addressed the safety concerns raised by pedestrians in Mouat Park vis a vis errant disc golf players.

Mr. Ruurs said parts for creating a sign outlining the course and park rules had been ordered and “should be in place within a few weeks.”

Within days large quantities of lumber, sand, shredded bark and preformed mats were delivered to the park for the upgrading of the disc golf course — but no signage.

A member of the local disc golf club asked that I write a letter to the Driftwood acknowledging the work done on behalf of pedestrians, and I agreed to do so.

Sorry fella — you got your spiffy upgraded course . . . but we got nothing — so I cannot yet write that letter.

The problem continues.

Salt Spring
