Woken up man damages RCMP equipment

A Salt Spring RCMP officer was at Centennial Park on Thursday in response to reports of a man found asleep on the grass. The officer located an “extremely intoxicated” 44-year-old in the gazebo.

When taken to the detachment, the man allegedly became violent and damaged RCMP equipment.

He faces a charge of mischief and will appear in court in November.

In other RCMP news:

• On Saturday evening, RCMP arrived at Centennial Park to find a 55-year-old man shouting and “appearing very intoxicated.”

Officers arrested the man for being drunk in a public place.

Police later found a small plastic bag of LSD concealed in the man’s sock. The drug was seized and destroyed.

• Salt Spring RCMP will host a Halloween display at the detachment at 401 Lower Ganges Road between 4 and 6 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 31. Plenty of treats will be available for the children.
