Salt Spring RCMP are searching for a “scruffy-looking” male who wielded a knife in trying to get money from a Pomodoro’s Pizza employee on Thursday morning.

According to a police news release, the suspect came into the Ganges restaurant at about 9:10 a.m. and asked the female employee for “old pizza.” He was told there was none.

“The suspect then demanded money, and the employee again told the male there was nothing there for him. A scuffle ensued between the suspect and the employee. He eventually pulled out and brandished a knife before fleeing out the back of the store empty-handed.”

The suspect is described as “possibly white, but dirty or with darker complexion. He is average height and slim, with a patchy, darker-coloured pointed goatee and no moustache. The suspect was very scruffy in appearance, with dirt-covered hands. He was dressed in a dark or dirty blue hooded kangaroo-style shirt, dark jeans and white sneakers with holes in them.”

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to please contact the Salt Spring RCMP at 250-537-5555 or Crimestoppers.
