Kaufman moves to 10-0, climbing MMA ranks

Victoria’s top fighter and representative on the international mixed martial arts scene, Sarah Kaufman is now 10-0.
At the June 19 Strikeforce event Kaufman, a former Saanich dancer who teaches out of Zuma gym in Vic West, went the distance against highly regarded opponent Shayna Baszler.
Kaufman’s powerful punching proved too much for South Dakota’s Baszler, who’s record is now 9-6.
Kaufman retains her perfect record with the unanimous decision. The match went three full rounds, five minutes each, a change from three minute rounds, something many in the MMA world wanted.
Strikforce is an MMA promotional organization aired on U.S. cable network CBS Showtime. For now it is the highest platform for female MMA fighters.
