A Sidney man is in hospital with serious injuries after suffering a medical condition after a head-on collision with another vehicle Sunday night.
The 47-year-old driver was travelling south in the 3800-block of Blenkinsop when he found himself in medical distress. His SUV crossed into the oncoming lanes as two vehicles approached.
The first vehicle swerved and was sideswiped before landing in a ditch. The second car was unable to avoid hitting the SUV head-on.
The driver and passenger in the first vehicle were uninjured. The driver in the second vehicle sustained minor injuries.
The driver of the SUV sustained significant injuries and remains in hospital. His passenger was uninjured.
Saanich police say the medical distress that the driver suffered is what led to the crash. No charges are being considered at this time.
