Expect traffic delays on Island Highway

Motorists and residents on Island Highway will get their first taste of construction delays next week.
Capital Regional District water services is installing a new water main between Admirals Road and the E&N railway overpass from Nov. 22 to Dec. 21. Work will be done between 6:30 p.m. to 5 a.m. to minimize traffic disruptions.
The same portion of road is slated for an overhaul starting in March 2010 when View Royal redesigns Island Highway to include sidewalks, bike lanes and landscaping, among other improvements.
CRD Water Services is cautioning motorists to expect lengthy delays and advises people to find alternative routes. For more information call 250-474-9620 or 250-883-0598.
