News website has more to offer

Be sure to check out our website, SaanichNews.com, for updates every day about news and events in our community.
Among the web-only features -- longer stories, more articles, videos, breaking news -- we’ve also just started a new interactive police blotter.
With the assistance of the Saanich police and Google Maps, you can now visually hone in on where crimes have been committed in your neighbourhood. As the public comes to expect online information, saanichnews.com will help complement the award-winning print edition of the paper.
We hope the new police feature will help readers find answers to questions about incidents they want to know about in the community.
For example, this week we use Google Maps to track a series of five incidents involving deer and cars in a 24-hour period Monday throughout Saanich.
As a reminder, not all incidents will be reported through the Saanich News, but if you're curious as to why, for example, you were caught in traffic at 9:30 p.m. on a weekday, check out our website.
There’s also a comments sections for readers to share their thoughts or ask questions.
