The incident occurred at the Chevron Town and Pantry at 3579 Shelbourne St., around 9 p.m. last Saturday. A man, covered in clothing from head to toe, entered the gas station when no other patrons were inside.
He held what appeared to be a knife as he demanded the cashier put cigarettes and money in a white plastic bag. He also leaned over the counter and grabbed lottery tickets before fleeing.
Police believe he got on a bicycle parked around the corner.
"We're hoping someone be will be familiar with this clothing and this individual and will help us with our investigation," said Sgt. Julie Fast, noting the clothes the man was wearing was "quite distinctive."
He is described as being 25-30 years old, 5'10" to 6' tall, between 140 and 150 pounds.
He was wearing a dark grey ball cap with an emblem near the brim, a black bandana with a white – possibly camouflage – pattern, a grey or silver jacket with a distinct emblem on the left chest area and on both sleeves, dark jeans and white running shoes.
