Vandals smash Saanich school's windows

It won’t spoil back-to-school, but an attack of vandalism at the former Beaver Lake elementary will cost taxpayers.
Somebody smashed 20 windows at the school last week. While it’s no longer used as a school, the Saanich school district rents the building to community groups.
The damage happened sometime overnight last Wednesday. A school district employee found the shattered windows Thursday morning. Repair costs are estimated at $10,000
Police have no leads, but believe more than one person must have been involved “just because of the volume of damage,” said Sgt. John Price.
There were no witnesses, as the only neighbouring homeowner was away at the time. Instead, police will have to rely on somebody’s conscience kicking in, Price said.
Anyone with information is asked to call Saanich police at 250-475-4321 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
