Star gazers can catch a glimpse of the International Space Station throughout July.
"It's interesting because Robert Thirsk, the Canadian astronaut is onboard," said Steve Ewald, from the Centre of the Universe observatory in Saanich. Thirsk, who was born in New Westminster, left on his six-month space odyssey May 27. The International Space Station is the largest artificial satellite in the Earth's orbit.
The station will be visible to the naked eye at various intervals. For example, on July 10 it will arc across Greater Victoria between 9:15 p.m. and 9:20 p.m., 10:49 p.m. and 10:55 p.m., and into July 11 at 12:25 a.m. to 12:31 a.m., 2 a.m. to 2:06 a.m., 3:36 a.m. to 3:40 a.m.
Ewald says that people can find a complete list of times that the station is visible by entering their exact location at www.heavens-above.com.
