The cultural and musical flavour of Latin dance will be in the spotlight Aug. 7-9 as Passion for Tango Society presents Tango Festival 2009.

This year’s series of concerts and dance performances features the best of Canadian and international tango arts, including headliners pianist Linda Lee Thomas and bandoneonist Jonathan Goldman.

People attending this festival can expect to find plenty of culture, with three days of concerts and dance performances intermingled with a cultural fair, lectures and classes for the public. As well, master classes for tango professionals will be offered.

Starting with a day of free activities at Centennial Square on the Friday at 11:30 a.m., the weekend continues with a tango workshop and concert on Saturday at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church. Sunday’s schedule features a variety of events and venues, from concerts to workshops.
