The final game of the Mount Douglas Rams varsity football regular season schedule happens tonight at Bear Mountain Stadium in Langford's City Centre Park.

The only two high school football programs in Greater Victoria go head-to-head, as the Belmont Bulldogs, in the basement of the Coastal Conference, host the first place Rams at 7:30 p.m.

"Belmont are out of the playoffs so this could really make their season to beat us," said Rams head coach Alexis Sanschagrim.

With a win the Rams will finish the regular season 7-0.

The Bulldogs are dangerous despite going winless thus far in their AA Varsity season, Sanschagrim said.

"Our kids are aware of that and will make sure we approach the game seriously," he said. "It should be a great game, hopefully we get good weather for a good crowd. City Centre is a beautiful stadium. It's a gem for the football community."

For finishing first in the Coastal Conference, the Rams have a bye in the first round of the B.C. High School Football Association's playoffs.

The Rams will play next in the quarterfinals on Nov. 21 in Langley, the neutral site chosen for all playoff games. The winner moves onto the semifinal and final.

In 2008, the junior Rams lost in the first round of the playoffs to Holy Cross. The senior Rams made it to the quarterfinals, where they lost to the eventual AAA B.C. champions Terry Fox.
