With the popularity of organic foods, questions have arisen around whether or not food labeled as such is really any better for us.

The University of Victoria's Division of Continuing Studies is offering a course Oct. 6, that attempts to answer that question: Eating with Consciousness: Making an Informed Decision on Organic Foods.

Dietician Anneke Vink leads the one night, two-hour class that questions what the term organic really means and whether its being used legitimately. The course will explore issues surrounding organic versus conventional farming, pesticides and sustainable farming techniques, food-related health benefits, food miles, as well as recommendations from Dietitians of Canada and other health professionals.

Tuesday, 6 Oct. from 7 to 9 p.m. in the David F. Strong Building, Room C108

Fee: $38 plus $1.90 GST

Register online at www.continuingstudies.uvic.ca (topic area “Health, Wellness, Safety”) or call 250-472-4747.
