Thousands attend Saanich Strawberry Festival
<strong>First in line</strong> Jennifer Desmarais, right, was the first of thousands to get strawberries and ice cream at the Saanich Strawberry Festival, held at Beaver Lake Sunday afternoon. Saanich councillor Paul Gerrard, left, served up the strawberries along with his collegues on council and Saanich South MLA Lana Popham and Victoria MP Denise Savoie. Desmarais waited an hour to catch the last of three buses she took from Oak Bay, then waited another hour to be first in line for the 2 p.m. serving of strawberry goodness.
