UVic Vikes pair rowers Josh Morris and Mike Mason won silver at the Canadian University Rowing Association championships in Montreal on the weekend, helping UVic to the CIS championship.

The Vikes biggest win came in the eight, edging out the UBC Thunderbirds with a time of 6:03.8, to pick up valuable points in the team standings. The men’s eight are Mason, Morris, Mark Vodden, Erik Johnson, Richard Herlinveaux, Eric Bevan, Peter Brooks, Brent Dallimore and coxswain Jane Gumley.

The Vikes also won bronze medals in the four, lightweight double and lightweight four. It’s the fifth time in school history after a successful performance at Montreal’s Olympic Basin on Sunday. Topping it off was Vikes coach Howie Campbell winning Coach of the Year.
