Kids hoop and hop for heart and stroke
Published: November 25, 2008 1:00 PMOn behalf of the Victoria area office of the Heart and Stroke Foundation of BC & Yukon, we would like to express our appreciation to the many teachers, students and volunteers for helping us with another successful year of Jump Rope for Heart and Hoops for Heart. This year, 13 schools in the Saanich school district along with area private and independent schools put their hearts into it and raised more than $51,000 to help fund vital heart and stroke research.
Heart and Stroke Jump Rope for Heart and Hoops for Heart are nationwide programs that deliver fun and fitness to more than 4,000 schools and 600,000 students each year while raising millions of dollars for heart disease and stroke research, health education and social change.
In addition to raising funds for the Heart and Stroke Foundation, JUMP and HOOPS motivate kids to establish healthy lifestyle habits today to promote a healthier, longer life.
The Heart and Stroke Foundation of BC & Yukon relies heavily on the commitment of the community and volunteers dedicated to helping us lead the way to a better understanding of the root causes of heart disease and stroke.
Thank you everyone, from the bottom of our hearts.
Barbara J. Haley,
Area Manager Heart and Stroke Foundation of BC & Yukon
