Sidney North Saanich RCMP are working with other policing agencies in the Capital Regional District to identify a suspect in a string of residential break and enters.

In the past few weeks, four different North Saanich homes were hit with thefts from residences on Ebor Terrace, Lochside Drive, Hillgrove Road and Inwood Road.

“All of them were entered during the day, while people were out of the house usually at work or school,” said media liaison officer Cpl. Chris Swain. Stolen items include computer equipment, home electronics, money, jewelry, and other small valuables.

“Sidney North Saanich RCMP is aggressively investigating these incidents and working with other units and police jurisdictions to solve them,” Swain said. “Anyone that observes suspicious activity that is out of the normal in their neighbourhood is urged to call the police and report it. Or at the very least, call your neighbour at work to confirm what you have observed is legitimate.”

Police remind residents to lock up homes when they’re out, or even home,

“This would include securing all windows and doors, including doors from your garage, and might also include placing devices on sliding windows to prevent them from sliding,” Swain said.

Anyone with information on the thefts should call the local RCMP at 250-656-3931 or Crimestoppers 1-800-222-8477.
