Graffiti is a continued problem in Capital Regional District work sites. Sometime between Oct. 5 and 8 vandals hit the CRD reservoir at Dean Park.

“It’s a common place for graffiti, so help from the public would be appreciated,” said Cpl. Chris Swain of the Sidney North Saanich RCMP. While the site at the top of the park is a popular spot for graffiti, they also tend to hit a CRD water pumping station on McTavish Road quite often as well.

“It’s a problem for the CRD and the people that take care of the property,” Swain said. “We really want to keep people out of those properties and find out who’s doing it.”

Anyone with information on the latest tagging should call the Sidney North Saanich RCMP at 250-656-3931 citing file number 5863.

Tools taken

A weekend break and enter cleared a construction site on Keating X Road of tools. The theft was reported to Central Saanich Police on Oct. 26. About $8,000 worth of tools were taken, likely over the weekend.

Cold case

Central Saanich Police are looking for information in a Veyaness Road theft from September. About $4,000 worth of carpentry tools, including a laser level, Bosch reciprocating saw, Makita drill, two Bostitch coil air nailers and a carpenters belt full of tools were swiped from a site in the 6900 block of Veyaness overnight on Sept. 24. Anyone with information can contact Cst. Davies at 250-652-4441 (file number 09-3470).

Streetlink

A homeless man refusing to leave the emergency room warranted a call to police from Saanich Peninsula Hospital. The man wouldn’t leave after being treated on Oct. 26 and made threats to himself, so was arrested under the Mental Health Act, said Central Saanich Police. He was transported to Royal Jubilee Hospital in Victoria where he was assessed and released before being transported to Streetlink Emergency Shelter.
