SBA finds new location
The new location of the Sidney Business Association in the Marina Court building.
The Sidney Business Association has a new home.
The office has moved from the old customs building on Beacon Avenue to a newly renovated space on Second Street.
“It’s the same size as our other premises,” said SBA president Edward Connor. “It’s 1,200 square feet and had major renovations done, that was all done by volunteers.”
The Town of Sidney is presently in negotiations with the Saanich Peninsula Chamber of Commerce to take over the customs building across from the Mary Winspear Centre on Bevan Avenue where the SBA was housed for several years.
“It’s a little quiet at the moment, but we hope to spread the word (about the move),” said staff supervisor Pauline Kearns. “We have lots of new projects we’re going to start, hopefully we’ll get our voice out there more now that we’re not under the town’s umbrella, as such.”
The large foyer of the new SBA office includes visitor information.
“We are already getting visitors into the centre, it’s a great location with lots of parking,” said Connor.
The SBA is now located at #7-9843 Second Street, Sidney in the Marina Court building next to the Peninsula News Review office.
They will be hosting an official grand opening and open house at the location on October 27, said Kearns.
