Bar fight
A bar in Saanichton on East Saanich Road was the site of an altercation on November 23 at 5:30 p.m., police said. Two males entered the bar and got into an argument with the bartender. When they were asked to leave, one of the men, a 25-year-old man from Victoria, poured his beer on the floor and then hit the bartender in the head with the beer bottle. Police were able to quickly locate a suspect, walking north on East Saanich Road, and arrested him for assault. It was discovered that he was also on an undertaking not to consume alcohol. He was taken in and released on a promise to appear.
Multiple eggings
Central Saanich Road was the site of at least three egging incidents overnight between November 22 and 23, police said. One, in the 6900-block, saw a car and a house hit by eggs as well as a tomato. The residents of the house heard a loud car and the sound of breaking eggs sometime between 3 and 4 a.m. on November 23. Police, investigating, found a corrugated cardboard egg carton but said that those cartons are not a good surface for holding fingerprints. However, after a report of an egging in the 6200-block, they found evidence of three eggs as well as two abandoned beer bottles and a wine bottle. The bottles have all been seized and sent away for fingerprinting. Another vehicle was also hit with two eggs in the 6700-block of Central Saanich Road.
Suspension
A uniformed police officer was patrolling in the Keating industrial zone on November 25 around 11 p.m. and noticed a vehicle pulling very quickly out of a storage facility. The vehicle was stopped and the driver, who smelled of alcohol, admitted he had been drinking. A roadside screening device was administered and as a result the driver, a 21-year-old Victoria man, received a 24-hour driving suspension. A sober passenger was able to drive the vehicle away.
