Welsh choir sets White stage
Members of the Vancouver Welsh Men’s Choir will raise their voices in song at the Charlie White Theatre Oct. 17. The choir, led by music director Jonathan Quick a UBC grad in voice, composition and conduction, will be on stage at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $30 for adults, $26 for seniors and students, and $10 for children 12 and younger. The Vancouver Welsh Men’s Choir is a 100-man ensemble from the Lower Mainland that offers a repertoire of traditional Welsh hymns, spirituals, opera choruses, show tunes and more. Vanished Victoria
recreated
Victoria is the setting for Vanessa Winn’s The Chief Factor’s Daughter.
A rowdy 1858 Victoria is recreated through the character, Margaret Work, daughter of John Work, chief factor for the Hudson’s Bay Company’s Fort Victoria.
On Sat. Oct. 3 at 2 p.m., Winn will launch the novel in a gathering at Point Ellice House, 2616 Pleasant St. in Victoria.
Jacques Brel live at Langham
Belgian singer-songwriter Jacques Brel and his music come to life in the season opener at Langham Court Theatre, Jacques Brel is Alive and Well and Living in Paris.
The production runs through Oct. 10. Tickets are available at the box office, 805 Langham Ct., or by calling 250-384-2142.
